The idea of wire rack on top of cargo rack makes a nice throne for the Princess. Shes all about the ride

Got everything packed and situated. I catch the shuttle van from St Charles to Clinton on Monday morning. It should be a fun week.

Katy Trail Day 1. I took the shuttle from St Charles to Clinton for $120. Rode from Clinton to Sedalia today. It was a little damp for most of the ride, and I was glad I had my 3” tires just floating on top when I’d see all the skinny tire marks sinking into the mud. Planned on camping all week but after the rain I decided to get a room in Sedalia for the night.

Day 2. I rode from Sedalia to Rocheport. The service is terrible here so I can’t upload any pics. Had decent weather all day until late afternoon. I originally planned to camp at a “primitive” campground in a nature area but the radar helped me decide to stay at a bed and breakfast in town.

Has the elevation change, or lack thereof been what you thought it would?

Are there plenty of these camping areas along the trail?

    Last, keep enjoyin the ride

Surprising it hasn’t been as boring as I thought. There’s plenty of scenery and I’ve been making a point to stop at each trailhead and read about the history of the town. I do end up standing every now and again just to give my butt a break. Definitely a lot different grinding out a rail trail than being on a trail where you get out of the saddle a fair amount.

The free camping options are few and far between. All these little towns survive off people riding the trail. Tomorrow night and Thursday night I plan to camp at campgrounds that have a shower house and stuff. Seems like $10 is the going rate for a tent spot.
