TruckersReport Site Outage March 10th

Hey all, after a long stretch of smooth sailing, our server got overwhelmed by an extreme bot attack on Sunday morning, March 10th. There was no attempt to steal data, somebody just wanted TruckersReport to eat dirt. Not a huge surprise, there are a lot of people that dislike the way drivers speak their mind on here.

Fortunately, we have thorough backups of our site data. It took longer than we would have liked, but we restored the site from our March 9th backup. If you posted something to the forum after Friday night, it’s gone and you’ll need to post it again. Hopefully you didn’t lose The Great American Novel.

As part of getting TruckersReport back online, we disabled the path that the bot attack used to take us down. However, we’re going to need to update our forum and server software in the coming weeks in order to close off future paths of attack. We’ll try to keep everything looking the way it has been for the past few years, but the forum software we use has been updated several times by the developer, and there will inevitably be some changes and additions.

Thanks for your patience. It’s extremely rare for an online community to get to be nearly 20 years old, and we’re only here because TruckersReport members keep choosing to share their challenges and successes with each other.
