When I did 980 it hit about 1150*F. I have yet to get it that hot on the road though, Wyoming will hit 1200 like nothing but I can't get more than 45psi out there. It's time for a better bigger radiator too. I got jakes, the pac brakes are weak no matter what.

Bigger compressor might be less efficient when spinning slowly, the advantage of bigger compressor wheel comes only at higher boosts, with Jakes you don't get much boost.C16KIWI Thanks this. -

I'm using a b manifold on my 600, didn't hurt spool-up, did pick up 1/2 mpg, cam also helped mpg.

Interesting old thread I am bumping because I am taking my PP B/W turbo for my CAT 3406E to Turbo Exchange in Concord, NC to get disassembled for polishing, balancing and have MicroBlue coated.
No ball bearings, but I do want to see what MicroBlue treatment will do for it performance wise and definately for fuel mileage improvement that runs together. -
Does polishing the housing and compressor wheel make a difference?
-
Well if polishing an intake does wouldn't you think doing the compressor side of the turbo make some sort of difference...?
Now that I typed all that out I thought of something... There are a lot of restrictions, so to speak, in the intake side. The air-air, tubes and intake itself. So there may be no difference at all unless polished all the other stuff..
Just a thought. -
Speaking of Turbos, I did alot of research on this forum and other's, and a few spill the beans on part numbers of the pieces to build a stage 1 turbo using B/W parts. My question is, Im running a 600 file (5DS), will this Turbo spool quicker on the low side ? Im running 58's injectors. I prefer/like running low rpm range (1400) and 1600 to 1700 on a pull. My stock wastegated turbo (OR-7202) dont think is doing the job and Im running alot more boost with the 600 file. Thanks

A friend of mine is running a ball bearing Garrett 4708 and likes it better than the Borg Warner S480 for turbo response, I have not driven it yet to get my own personal opinion.

They can hook you up with same Turbos PP and PDI sale for alot less.
Turbo Exchange can even have turbo MicroBlue treated for you even though they will try to talk you out of it, but I have already talked to a couple of drivers that said MB helps spool up turbo faster. Turbo Exchange is like alot of engine builders that are "old school" and have trouble accepting new technology.
