Went to Syracuse and tested out today. Had to take LCQT. I was the only one taking it, so it went fast. Testing out is a road test and written test. The road test was a little longer then the one in orientation, and had to do a 45 sigtht side back. I am a solo driver now. Got a 2007 volvo with 440,000 miles. It should be getting retired soon so I hope to have a newer truck soon. I trained with a mentor who is on a dedicated account and was asked if I wanted to stay there. Took it in a heartbeat, no otr just running easter NY and New England. Have to go to NYC and Long Island, but have to take the good with the bad.
Good luck guys

their any wait for a truck or are their plenty available.
-
They issued me a truck as soon as I was done with my written test and road test. Then I had to wait until 1pm for LCQT. Truck had to go in the shop to have electric mirrors fixed and they fixed the bunk heater. got my first load for target on friday. running everyday until saturday and will find out soon about after that. I got on a dedicated account and they assign loads twice a week. most loads are a one day trip out and back to the dc. sometimes a short trip but usually about 7-8 hours. did long island for my first trip. right thru nyc an 5pm.

when you test out you will be given a truck from syracuse. they will give you one with some miles on it. mine is a 2007 and it had 439,000 when they gave it to me. it has 443,000 now.

I tested out on Nov 3rd. I trained on a dedicated Target account. I got to stay on it after I finished training. They put extra drivers on for November and December for the extra loads for the holidays. I have been running staedy ever since. My first week was almost 2000 m iles. I would have had more but I scanned on of my trips on Friday so it will go on the next weeks pay.
Been in the Bronx a couple of times. The store is about 3 miles from the freeway. Been to Long Island also. To get to Long Island I got to go right thru the middle of NYC at 5:00pm on Friday.
My longest trip so far water from Wilton, NY (near Saratoga Springs) to Stoiughton MA for a drop and hook, then to Hollis ME for a back haul of water. Scaled out a little over 79000, can't get much heavier than that.
Hope I get asked to stay on this account after the first of the year. Igt's alot better than over the road.
Let's here from you other guys. Flatbroke WHERE ARE YOU?Last edited: Nov 15, 2009

Hi Bill,
I have been out straight and OTR for 5 weeks. My travels have taken me from Ontario too S.C and every state in between. I hit A deer in Greenville, SC about a week ago. Scared the #### out of me; tore up the left front quarter panel and ripped off the air dam under the front bumper. I have been running close to 3000 miles every week. Feels like I have been doing it for years. I'm in Jonestown,PA and headed to Hackenstown, NJ then to Elizabeth, NJ to Hammond, IN.
Looks like you haven't left New England? I hate the same routine, so glad to be OTR. I don't get much time to check in to the board, but will try when I can.
Good luck guys....ps find a job that pays better Ha!
"...mommy who's that man at the dinner table? That's dad, now shut up and eat"
I need to get home!
