I am thinking about getting into hauling RVs. Was wondering if you can sleep in them with a sleeping bag in transit. More comfortable than the back seat. If not, how would they even know? Also, any of you guys set up a really cheap rate with a hotel chain as a frequent guest?
Are you allowed to sleep in the RVs?

I have slept in harvesters , airplanes and many a load when I was driving a day cab.
The one time I had a military refrigerated mortuary van on the back.
I slept across the seats of the truck that night. -
No you can't. The company pays for rooms
-
I have talked to a dozen of them and none of them pay for hotel rooms.

texasmorrell the company I worked for would pay for a motel/hotel room every other night. That is one night in the RV and the next in a room. Yes you can sleep in the RV. I took both sheets and sleeping bag in case the sheets didn't fit the bed. I couldn't smoke in the RV or use the bathroom. I carried a sign that said RV delivery and driver is on a 10 hour break so Truck drivers wouldn't bug me when I parked in a T/S. Also it depends on the RV Dealership if they pay for the hotel/motel room.

For what its worth , the book* I'm looking at reads like this (my condensed version )
Question - May time spent resting /sleeping in a motor homes being delivered be recorded as off duty time ?
Guidance - FMCSA says YES BUT under certain conditions ;
The driver must have been relieved of all duty & responsibility for the care & custody .
The duration of relief from duty must have been made known to the driver prior to the drivers departure in writing .
You can come and go as you please.
The length of time must be long enough to get a decent rest .
This is from the " Hours of Service & Drivers Logs Workbook "
for property carrying vehicles
