Dart Transit is got too be the most unorganized company that i ever worked for ,They have there drivers searching all over town looking for empty trailers ,because they have no idea where they are and they don’t pay you for doing all this running around , which cost you fuel and time. They also advertise on the back of there trailers that they pay you immediately on your settlements when you turn them in…..which is a lie, I drove short haul and if you didn’t have your settlement in by 2:30pm everyday you didn’t get paid till the next day,and if you didn’t get your settlement in by 2:30pm on friday you didn’t get paid till the following monday. There trailers are so old and raggedy that when you try too slide the tandems on the trailer you almost damage your clutch on you truck trying too slide them especially when you have a load on the trailer, really bad for your clutch.DART stands for (Dragging Around Raggedy Trailers ).This got too be the worst company that I ever worked for. There fuel surcharge is ridicuious .42 cents ,I mean get real, diesel is over $4.00 a gallon.I put it this way after about 3 to 4 months with Dart you’ll see that your not going too make any money.
This person is no business man. He has no clue. I bet he always runs whatever the speed is or more which means he’s burning his profits right out the stack. I have been with Dart almost 4 years and I make good money. I drive slower than most ppl and still arrive on time for my deliveries. I agree with him on the raggedy trls but that’s all. Everything else he said is a bunch of junk. I average giving myself 1,000.00 per week paycheck. Maybe I just know a little more about how to run a business.
yeah I agree that was true 2012, We now have new trailers, and the advertising is true you get paid daily. Home time is great, and they are truly organized, “THEY HAVE COMPUTERS NOW”…
I totally agree with u.im on short haul and have worked 3 months with them.everything your saying is completely true.worst organization of a company I’ve ever seen.dnt no how the in business still
Dart was and always has been a lease purchase company. You drivers who want to stay home with MAMA have no business in this industry. It pays little money, why did you get your cdl. seems to me you and the last driver are kinda not truck drivers.
This first guy must not have ever run a business. I make the Easiest money I have ever nade with Dart. I’m OTR I am a solar powered driver… work 0300 no later than 1700. Yes its only been 9 months but 59000 in my pocket I can’t complain. I am in 2nd truck since yesterday and plan to keep leasing new every year. If any body can’t make it at Dart they should look to get out of trucking because it is wayvtoo simple. I am lucky to have the best fleet manager in the industry so maybe that’s why it’s so easy for me. As for trailers … they are phasing out the old raggedy ones and bringing on eco trailers that are great for my mpg.As for looking for trailers try working for one of those orange or blue companies complete *********** there. I wish everybody the best …. Yours In Success. BOB G
Hi Bob G,
I am thinking of leasing with Dart and your comment is really encouraging….You lease every year and keep a lot of money in your pocket. Please what else can you tell me about dart?
Wouldn’t do it I worked with dart for a year the truck made good money I made crap I can show you check stubs and all and they had me going everywhere for trailers and then they don’t know how to plan you I went through 4 dispatchers in a year
Bob, what is the cpm? How much is average lease amount, plus other fees? Was the 59,000 after tax or before because o/o gross looks good but take home completely different. What was your benefit from a new truck each year? What do you know about H/S leasing? Thanks
Hello, $122,000 my bottom line take home, $124,000 my second year take home, and my 3rd year $119,000…No big secret, just doing my job and keeping my nose out of others business, and running my business. Dart Transit GREAT!!!
I want to thank yall for sharing your Dart leasing exp. I am new to the lease game and OTR I made 2 runs epedited freight a fews years back and of course my first was to NYC!!! LOL I ran hot books and drove from dallas to wythrville va,,slept 2 hrs then across the george washington bridge,,manhattan,,,,anyway dropped headed to nj,,,,the shitty guy from MnM EXPRESS was fuguring out my pay,,,,he said,,hmmm,,you are at negative 35 bucks!!!THEN SAID ahh but you have fuel in the tank right? THATS YOUR PROFFIT!!! LMAO thats my exp with leasing!! I been hauling fuel in the oilfield but I think I will try Dart now. SAFE TRAVELS! ,,,,Scott,,
Only issue am having is told when I got of class and got my truck would get a load to run me by house. But had to take load to Ohio and was told it would be easier to get loaded out of there weighted till noon.Nobody answered my calls so I told dispatch I may get fired but headed to the house. No clean clothes and 20.00 left in my pocket. No load and still 335 from home Chattanooga TN.If I get fired nothing I can do about that but don’t tell me one thing and do another. But the people are great in class and the ones I meet.Tell me straight and I’ll try my best to be straight with you.
If you have a bad FM/Dispatch issue…call your recruiter at Dart and they will put you in touch with person over them…who is more then willing to switchvyiu to someone who can get you freight…all FM are not the same…many are great and work hard getting their Team freight…
I had a bad experience about a year and half ago and ready to chuck it in…but recruiter came across me looking for new job..ready to let truck go and all..and got me in touch with Individual over the FM fleet managers and he switched me ASAP..they care about their drivers…my experience has been great. 3-4 months left to pay bank lease…met drivers (Owner operators) who been there for 30 yrs…FR! Met one couple months ago…Good Company!
It seems pretty difficult to decide between Dart, Landstar and Schneider if your going to go that type of route as an O/O. What I’m looking for is the real honest opinions of the guys and gals that work hard. Hows it been? What are some of the real negatives(trailers are always an issue).
Dart trailers good…Try Dart for Lease Owner Operator…i gross about avg $125-130k…was down some for truck repairs…figure about 10k max. Yearly for unexpected truck repairs..include tire $800 a piece or per hub with Michelin discount thru Dart…PMs $250 or so every 60-90 days…and DOT inspections 3xs min. a year cost…fuel..and insurance.etc etc etc…but if the goal is to own a reliable truck… Dart gives you a chance for that…at the end of my 3 yrs plus(6 month extension one of ballon pymt)
Worked for Schneider, Dart, when I got my truck paid off, thought of Landstar.
Schneider no way again,. Landstar you pay for tolls, trailers, no deadhead pay.
I choose Dart, they pay for all that….
Yes…thet seem to have the network setup for that…i pay for my tolls etc..i am sure discounted because of Darts size…but they take out daily cost per settlement…and a beginning of month everything’s due..insurance..navigaction.tolls
And cents per mile going into your maintenance account etc…makes it manageable..
Good Company

Sound like you don’t know business. Truck made money, but I didn’t. Keep the left door shut and be a good driver, you will make LOTS OF $$$

MY QUESTION IS: Why did you have so little , from the other job. I guess it was their fault too!!!!
