It’s been great since 2021 until second half of 2024. Drivers sitting for 3-6 days with no pay waiting on a load only to get a load that’s going 300 miles. If you are lease purchase driver, they offer no support, but sure enough collect payments. It’s horrible at Wheeler right now. Hundreds of brand new trucks sitting at the yard with no drivers. Anymore it’s hard to get home by certain day

Pros

New trucks Great pay if you are actually rolling Dispatch gives you a choice of loads, if there’s any

Cons

Mechanic is a joke Almost no loads since beginning of 2025 No communication with owner

This company makes it sound like it will take care of its own, built by a driver for drivers-it's not. They have no help after 5PMET and will leave you stranded in a precarious position on the side of the road because they have no established connections with roadside mechanics. They disparage you for driving after 5PMET even though they have trucks run all across in the country in all times zones. It's as if they don't understand trucking at all. You will sit for days after every delivered load but you better not be close to your house or they will deduct your earned vacation time if you go to home. They do not pay empty mileage until another active load has been delivered and it is then attached to that delivery - So mileage is not paid out on the week you run it. They recently laid off 36 drivers after promising new contracts on the horizon. Wheeler required 2-weeks notice to quit but laid off drivers with given zero notice and refused to even provide the most minor assistance in getting drivers home. They have the audacity to try and make you pull another load after they've laid you off and refuse to help get you or your gear home. The owner accepts no input and has his company ran by "yes-men" only. He is obsessed with his racetrack, actively turns down contracts for more work and has now diminished his work force by at least 20%. Wheeler is in a downward spiral and will never recover. If they start hiring again, do not work here. You are expendable and they literally do not care about you no matter how hard you work for them.

Pros

Good pay if you are actually running

Cons

No help after 5PMET, empty miles are not paid the week you work but have to attach to another delivered load, slow to no work, drivers are disposable and they let you know it.

Andy is one of the most racist men you'll ever run across. The company will hire blacks only for him to fail them. To all black men please don't waist your time this guy Andy is waiting to make sure you don't work for that company. He will fail the black man and pass the white men for something he failed the black men for.
