Pros
You get treated good here. Mileage is steady not to stressful but enough to make a good living
Cons
The local driver in Irving is not a good trainer. His driving record and tickets are proof he is not safe, speeds through work zones, gets tickets and violations. And will tell management you are not fit to be a truck driver.

Pros
Great for students and nice people in charge
Cons
You will starve to death

Cons
Lack of communication. No pre planning. General Air of depression in the office as you walk in. The office people are stacked up with too many trucks. Yard is over run with trucks. Shop is overwhelmed with trucks that are poorly built. It's a sinking ship. Management is trying to build moral but falls short. Over all it's an environment of fear and contempt from Management.

Tried to find some info on National Carriers. Have to dig for it though. Seems like an excellent carrier if you can make it through orientation. Orientation is thorough and strict and strictly business. The company doesn't tolerate immature behavior and isn't going to be a baby sitter for any driver that's should already be an adult. Good policies seems to me. Probably be associating with drivers that don't sit around and wail constantly.

The pay is .40/mile in 6 mos. .41/mile then 2yrs. .42. there are weeks you'll have more than 2000 but they're few of those. Although they are an OK company overall they don't have a large freight base. The meat and potatoes of national comes from the beef loads that u have to share with the lease drivers and elements produce. They are a business at the end of the day the loads with good miles that make the company driver money they give them to lease guys bcuz majority of them are paid by percent. The multiple stop beef loads the lease guys love they give them to the company drivers. And yes the vets the same. They may throw them a bone every now. And again.

National
Carriers seems to be a good company for an OTR truck driver who either wants or
needs to be home more often, or an OTR truck driver who is satisfied driving
only 1900 to 2000 miles a week.
From the looks and sound of things, National Carriers does not seem to be
geared for an OTR driver who wishes for and is willing to drive in the upper
2000 plus mile range, possibly going over 3000 miles a week, while willing to
be away from home for extended periods of time.
God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!

- Do not go to national carriers. They are all liers tell you that you can make money with them. I was there shirt time and had 3 negative paydays.. Kim told me I was making money and I never saw more than 800.00. She said I was getting a check of 1400.00 fri I saw settlement of 00.00 3rd time in a row ...lies lies lies stay away from Nci complete
- the
op is right about nci. they are liars. they mess up each and every load. in the
time i have been here. i rarely see a load that is planned right. they will
make it look like its right. upon check-in you find out the load is way late
being picked up. many of the the customers are angry with them over late loads.
and the driver takes the heat for it.
so what's the pay really like for drivers at nci? the pay works out to bounce
between $$7.90 and $9.30 an hour. the weekly average is $630 to $644. I just
checked prior to posting. it sucks majorly. the only people that get a good pay
package out of the whole company. are the people that work in liberal. every
one else gets shafted hard. I can't say much about the insurance. as i can't
afford it. I have heard where people are making money on the lease purchase
program. but that is hear say. no one has came across with the proof. as a
fleet driver/ employee. I have seen a few $0.00 weeks. and then i have seen
weeks where the were $1150.00. so based on my income. I am able to project the
annual income for drivers at nci. $27,500 to $33,340 annually. that really
sucks. the job works out to be nothing more then brand new truck. and yes they
due put the driver through an unspeakable amount of crap. many don't even
realize what they are doing to them. for those of that figure it all out. well
they like retaliating against us. they are a dirty company to work for. one
thing i have come to learn. that would be the difference between voluntarily
going to elogs. and being forced on them by the feds. and yes nci was forced on
to elogs. if they didn't have them. drivers here would be treated far worse
then you can imagine. so the other thing I have learned. is nci doesn't give a
dang for the drivers. not in the least bit. they will act like they do. and
make people think they do. that's just for show. behind the scenes it is
completely different. walking on the drivers. is something they seem to enjoy.
that I think i am the only one who notices that. so if you are reading this
post and considering nci. so good advice: RUN!!!! don't walk!!!! RUN from
them!!!! they are damaging if not piosoness to a drivers career.

I drive for National. Don't worry about them watching. Don't lie to them, do your job, maintain your equipment and they'll leave you alone to do your job. If you have a legitimate problem they want to hear about it. I have been here since February and have had great success.

Guys
and Gals,
I have said it once and I will probably say it many more times, there are good
companies and bad companies. I have been impressed with this company for a long
time.
All we want as drivers are nice equipment, to work with and for nice people who
actually give a crap about their people, the miles needed to pay our bills and
support our families.
Too many have come on here expecting a country club lifestyle and executive
type job with all kinds of perks and that is not what this industry is about.
I believe as I always have and always will, that as long as you keep a good
attitude, go to work and work hard no matter what and respect your employer and
the people you work for as well as the motoring public, you will be fine.
Someone said National monitors social media and they should. This gives them an
opportunity to derail someone talking crap and sending negatives about this
company. I would do it too if I owned the company.
I am not a recruiter and have nothing against anyone who is. I just speak from
a point of what I feel. I have had some challenges getting back into this
industry and I did nothing wrong to warrant having difficulties. I left a
company that was sub standard in everything they did. I left because my wife
was very ill. I told safety I was going to leave and they did not believe me.
My DAC is clean and my background is solid. I have talked to several companies
that want to hire me because I have a good CVSA record, am a very safe driver,
have zero issues but they all seem to be making a big deal about my being off a
truck for a year and a half. They mostly said, well something bad must have
happened. Yes it did, my wife got sick.
I am looking at National as my new employer. Unfortunately at 0415 am, I cant
do much until they open for the day.

I
love a company that does what they say they're gonna do.
New trucks, good consistent miles, apus, fridges and hometime forreal.
I'm not a recruiter just a company driver who loves his employer. Looking to
help newbies and offer any experience I can... Let's Talk Trucking

2000 miles/week is easily doable. More so if you go OTR instead of regional. With you being in Mississippi and not wanting to run much, Florida dedicated would probably be right up your alley.
