Overall this company is the best lease purchase I’ve been to. Iv been with them for around 9 months and I have had no problems with working here. The owner is great he’s very supportive and will work with you. The money is great when your willing to work and there trucks are very well maintained. No scam very straightforward your expenses don’t change no unexpected mess coming out of your check . Take care of your truck and it will take care of you.

Pros

Equipment Management Easy work Setting you up for success

Hicks has all their eggs in the same basket. Their hands are tied by Prime Inc. I leased a truck from Hicks at 500 per day. The first month went great. Then we started having issues with the way Prime Inc was dispatching the truck. We were having to sit multiple days on loads. Or we would get empty then have to sit over night for day shift to come in so we could get the next load. My son and I ran teams they could not keep a team busy. After our first month there we would avg sitting 2-4 days per week, while the trucks fixed cost was 3500 per week. I was paying Hicks 600 per week to run as a team truck under their authority. We were never run like a team and had about the same miles as their solo drivers. We were constantly told it would get better or that freight was slow. All in all I ended up working 12 weeks for free. Prime got paid, Hicks got paid and my co-driver got paid, then nothing was left for myself. Hicks depends on Prime Inc’s load planners to keep their trucks busy. Prime Inc has some of the worst planners I have dealt with in my 38 year driving career. I felt like I was fighting a losing battle. Prime inc did not put enough revenue on the truck to make the deal profitable. All I seemed to get accomplished in our last 12 weeks at Hicks was making their truck payments and fee payments. Hicks Trans has a deal that looks good on the surface. But once a driver gets into it it is really bad. You will make enough money to pay for all the expenses but not enough to pay yourself. If you like working for free then Hicks along with Prime Inc is the place for you. If not I recommend you never apply to this company.

Pros

Owner and driver manager

Cons

Having to deal with Prime Inc load planners. They don’t care if you make money or not.

Owner was a driver. Great alternative to a large carrier. Large carrier benefits, small carrier feel. Even with a down market

Pros

Great lease purchase, very fair terms

It is an over the road company
