Best company in the Sioux Falls and surrounding area. I have worked for others that say that but Dakota Carriers shows that they are family oriented. New trucks and great equipment all around
Pros
Family first type of company.

We drive late model, very well equipped Volvo VNL860’s. They are meticulously cared for and serviced by our on-site dedicated mechanic shop! Our tractors and trailers, both dry vans and reefers are washed every time they are in the yard/terminal, and the trailers are all inspected every time they roll through the yard/terminal. The tractors get every maintenance item the manufacturer specifies and even more. Things that are considered industry best practices, Dakota’s best practices do those and go over and above. It is very refreshing. We rarely have mechanical issues on the road, and any issue is IMMEDIATELY RESOLVED, and I never sweat getting pulled in for any DOT inspection! Dispatch is incredible, both the outbound team and the inbound team totally and always work with you to run the way you want to run (as an aside, both my fiancé and I drive for Dakota and we drive our two tractors, not team, almost always together on the same route, to the same destination, that takes incredible effort and coordination by everyone in dispatch and it DOES NOT GO UNNOTICED), our safety director is an amazing individual, a GREAT TEACHER, and someone that anyone would love to drive for. Accounting/payroll/settlements almost always get it right and when that rare time an issue arises it is always corrected the next week! It all starts with the man at the top, the Owner Tim Schenk! I absolutely love driving for Tim and Dakota, and I’d never consider driving anywhere else!
***My salary shown is my actual average weekly gross since hiring - It continues to trend up - since 01/01/2023 it’s closer to $1,200***
Pros
It truly is a family atmosphere! Many, many carriers say they have it, but don’t, Dakota HAS IT, in every way!
Cons
Only slight con, and it has zero affect on my feelings about the carrier, is that our yard is gravel and dirt and not paved. But I understand, and I am glad that money goes to our paycheck and the equipment! Had to write something and that’s the only thing I can think of!
