Pros
Henkle doesnt seem to care about paying out the money the Cowan drivers are stealing from them.
Cons
crap equipment, low pay , 12 hr. shifts with no OT after 8 hrs. no one cares about much. Manager Dale lacks skills to run that division. Has also had multiple complaints about him that Cowan addmits to but doesnt do anything about.

Pros
Assigned truck, we'll maintained equipment, decent pay, great vacation pay and decent benefits. Regular starting hours, and I avg 55hrs a week.
Cons
They took my 68mph sleeper away, now I'm in a 62mph daycab. Because I'm hourly paid localdriver. I would feel better in a sleeper truck because they ride nicer.

Cowan only has Automatics in their Day Cabs. Their Sleepers all have 10-13 speeds.

After being with them 4 months, I'm looking for another job. Overall they'really a great company, I really like working for them. They just don't pay enough and the miles aren't there. Not really a fan of, if you damage anything it's an accident. The medical per week is ridiculous. The mobileye system drives me nuts driving all these two lane roads in the mountains of pa.
Trailers are junk too. All the landing gear on them are dry and rusty and a giant pain to work. Bailing wire and zip ties seem to be the only tools they have to fix anything. Sad part is most are almost new, shows what a lack of maintenance and drivers backing by feel will do.

I'm a Night Manager (Specialist) in a B.J's Club in upstate N.Y. I have had the same Cowan Driver for the almost 3 years Now(Dedicated). He runs Monday- Friday, and Saturday if he wants or has the hours left. In 30 years of Driving a Truck including being an Owner Operator of 3 tractors. He Lives and Dies by Cowan Systems and has never been Happier. Right down to If the Company gets a Bad Dispatcher, they will get rid of them. He tells me Its all about the Drivers. If and when We receive a Truck on Sunday, its a Reaginal Driver. I also ask them they all come back with the same responce, "Never Happier". I'm going to be getting in the seat soon and after I do my time. I already know im ganna be Driving for Cowan Systems. This is what it comes down for me. Everybody cant be wrong. His terminal is out of Uxbridge Mass. I hope this helps Somewhat.

Cowan has multiple fleets. O/O L/P are expected to run at least two weeks out according to their website. Here in MD they have a good rep.

I've talked to the intermodel driver and they like it pay starts out @18.75 an hour, just wondering about their OTR division, they approved me to lease a 2012 peterbilt 384. miledge pay doesnt look the best @1.10 after 90 days though!!

I worked here about one year. Pretty good company. Trucks and trailers are new, lightweight and designed to haul freight other companies can't haul. Primary accounts are BJ's Wholesale and R.E. Michaels. Trucks are governed at about 65-66 mph and are on e-log. Company recently merged with A to Z transportation out of Pennsauken NJ. Cowan Systems has a lease purchase program that leases brand new Pete's. This part of the operation is out of Brunswick NJ not far from a BJ's wholesale DC, while the main operation is based in Halethorpe MD. Lots of dedicated accounts. Starting pay is around. 36-38 cpm direct deposit mileage based. Very strict on compliance. Lots of loyal drivers who been there for many years, swear by this company. Dennis Morgan is vice President of operations and is fair, Ken Scrimale is with the lease division and is also pretty cool. Cowan has good benefits including decent insurance, not a bad company to work for.

Ive been with them about a year and a half, hauling refrigerated and frozen loads between Northern Virginia and all of New Jersey and Staten Island for the C&S Wholesale account. I drive a new assigned Pete, I'm home every night, I have 2 days a week off, I gross on average $1100/week and sometimes more. You go out, make your no touch deliveries, come back and go home, no BS. On the downside, health insurance is pretty hefty, I'm single and pay almost $100/week for the whole ball of wax (medical, dental, vision, short and long term disability), they black out every single holiday for time off so if you want to get an extra day or two by taking your vacation then good luck! But hey, if those are the only complaints I have with a trucking job then I'm doing OK! Check them out, they have other dedicated accounts too with Coke and BJ's that can make life in this hectic industry pretty #### predictable!
