I’ve read the other reviews and some can be misleading. But here’s my take as an experienced driver. The planners suck.Fleet managers are hit and miss.My current one is ok.But CFI is moving here to dispatch trainers. The trucks are ok.But slow(65 mph). The trailers are also hit and miss. But most are so messed up.It seems like I have to fight for hometime. And the miles do suck. But if you don’t have to many monthly bills. You’ll do ok.But they are taking the refrigerators out of the newer trucks.Which I don’t like.

Pros

Trucks are ok.They do have some nice terminals.

Cons

You’ll do quite a bit of setting.A lot of the trailers are in bad shape. And evidently no overnight parking at any of there customers.

Owner operators should head for the hills. Do not come here. The miles are garbage. The downtime is excessive. You get $1.18 a mile with a fuel surcharge for LOADED miles only. There is no layover pay. They expect owner operators to pay for scales, tolls and parking. They covered all of those a year ago. I see a lot of company drivers parked as well. Do not come here. I don't really know where the grass is greener, but it's got to be somewhere else. Ever since Heartland purchased CFI it has been a downward spiral with the low point continually getting lower.

Pros

I hear some of the company trucks are nice and/or newer.

Cons

The planners are inept. Nights and weekends refuse to answer the phone and usually any messages you send. The miles are nearly nonexistent. Don't waste your time here.

It’s an okay company if you HAVE to be here due to some stigma on your record/ FMCSA, other than that if you have no violations or issues on your license I don’t see why anyone would come deal with this company. Ridiculous amounts of down time and the worst planners I have ever encountered on top of an unreachable dispatch team. You only talk to your fleet manager when they need you any other time they don’t answer the phone. I get maybe 1500 miles a week if I get lucky and get 400-700 a week faithfully. And as a regional driver who’s on the road 4+ weeks at a time getting $450 at the end of the week is a slap in the face. You have to set up your home time over 2 weeks in advance just for them to still be unable to get you home on the day you requested. When there are things that need to be done such as an annual inspection or something like that you have to jump through hoops and do their job to get it done. Ever since this system change it’s been downhill from an already low point and it’s quite ridiculous. Once again if you don’t HAVE to be here don’t come here there are many better options. If you’re an SAP driver it’s bearable for the most part just very irritating and takes extreme patience.

Pros

The truck I got is nice and hasn’t given me any issues almost at all. Only one trailer tire blowout in the time I’ve been here. And the rare times when they get you going with dispatching you loads it’s great, but that’s rare.

Cons

PLANNERS, fleet manager response time 80% of the time, they don’t answer the phone whatsoever. The planners for loads are horrible.

Don’t let Mike try and lie to you at orientation, he’s payed to sucker you into the job Doesn't honor time off even if you submit 2 weeks early and remind them. Horrible pay, it’s very low and on top of that bad miles. You will be lucky to make 1400 miles which is less than a McDonalds job or warehouse . Dispatch see you as a bag of meat and a truck number. They constantly make mistakes but if you make one that act like the world fell apart. Trucks are falling apart so if you work here takes pictures day one so they don’t try to claim you did it. And take pictures of load information because when dispatch messes up they can change it and you will be to blame for not following the change even tho you would have to pull over for the numerous messages that have nothing to do with your load to find the one message that states the change

Pros

Nothing, if your not an idiot and can get hired else where do it

Cons

Everything from the ground up. Bad pay Bad miles Bad trucks Bad dispatch Bad terminals

Pay starts at 0.34 if you're a student driver, upon upgrade you get 0.43 and the maximum is 0.47 after 30,000 miles. My fleet got me home a day before my scheduled time 95%, you just have to schedule 8 days in advance. Terminal shops no longer put fluids in trucks, Heartland trucks get priority in shop queue resulting in waiting a whole day to get maintenance. Shops aren't open 24/7. In late 2023 responses from fleet teams were quick, towards the start of 2025 it took roughly 30 minutes to hours on a weekday during the work day to get any response. Planners messing up PU numbers repeatedly, resulting in increased wait times at shippers to check in or get loaded. As a regional driver miles weren't great, a lot of live (un)loads. I averaged out at roughly 1800 miles a week. Fleet repeatedly tries to get regional drivers to leave their region, or changes regional routes without notice.

Pros

Good home time Newer trucks

Cons

Poor maintenance Low Miles Low CPM Late fleet responses Poor planners

Transport America

My husband and I have worked here for a little over a year now and I have to say it's a great company to work for. We are not new to this industry by any means and have been thru several other companies and this is this first one that I can honestly say cares about their drivers. The money is good if you're willing to keep the door closed and work. The benefits are good and the fleet leaders are extremely pleasant to deal with.

Transport America Opinion?

100% correct. I used to work for transport america and infact the only reason I left was due to snow storm and death in the family. it was the best company I ever worked for except for hometime. they kept trying to send me in the wrong direction of my house every single day of transit. other than that it was great. sorry for late reply

Lots of fed-ex freight. Embrace New Jersey. Every inch of it. You're going often. I personally like it, you reload quickly and on your way.

TRANSPORT AMERICA LEASE PURCHASE

TRANSPORT AMERICA LEASE PURCHASE

I'm not really looking for a bunch of beat downs. Lol. I've been driving for TA now as a company driver for almost a month now. So far I'm very happy here. All I know about their lease plan is you have to drive for them for 6 months before they will consider your qualified for their lease purchase. And that they have 3 different kinds of lease plan options. So far I'm impressed with the way they operate, and they have been treating me very well. I'm driving a nice 2015 Kenworth T-680, I get plenty of miles. If they run their lease plans like everything else I've seen here so far it might be worth looking into. I just wondered if there is anyone who has leased with them before, and what they thought about it?

I'm pretty certain I've finally found the company I'm going to stick with till I retire. I can buy a truck if I wanted one that bad. I have excellent credit and plenty of money for a down payment. I'm well aware most lease purchase plans are a ripoff. I'm just curious if anyone has ever done a lease purchase with TA and what their opinion of it was. I don't think this company is out to ripoff drivers. They actually do put the drivers first. It's not just a bunch of talk like most trucking companies are famous for.
