Currently replacing employees from a company they recently purchased. They are pushing out the original employee to hire ones cheaper cause they don't want to keep paying the employees there current wages they transferred over with.

I would give zeroes on managers and dispatchers if that was a choice. All drivers are paid by the mile and stop, including city drivers. The employees did win a class action lawsuit against management due to OT payments. Equipment is cheap, not being replaced because of the economy, though they had enough money to buy out other companies. They brought in a manager here from another account where he was turfed from a drivers revolt.

Pros

Local runs, home most days/evenings

Cons

Lousy managers, dispatchers, supervisors, old cheap equipment, not paid for time

Pay is VERY much at the LOW end of the scale. Major incompetence in management / operations teams. The equipment is horrible. There is NO respect for drivers or seniority. And the electronic surveillance of employees is WAY over the top. To the point of wondering if it's a breach of privacy laws. Oh ! and the automated payroll system !!! Anyone remember the governments problems with Phoenix ??? Yep , same issues with Canada Cartage .

Pros

local work, decent shifts. They will hire anyone. No experience,no problem. They love to hire New Canadians. (probably because they don't understand what their rights are as employees) I've worked here many years , USED to be a great job/employer.

Cons

VERY toxic work environment. Their CVOR is very much in the toilet. So much so that they are having problems obtaining fleet insurance. There is NO overtime pay until after 60hrs (federal regulation loophole that they exploit and don't tell you about) . Health and safety is touted as a priority , but in practice it's just corporate window dressing. And again, the equipment (tractors, and most trailers) are HORRIBLE. Do yourself a favor and stay away ! Drivers are generally treated as expendable an
