A Man Behind His Woman

He cooks and cleans without a fuss
Watches the kids and cleans and dusts
He dresses them in their best clothes
And even wipes their runny nose

When they need help he's there you see

A Man Of The Road

I've fallen in love with a man of the road. Driving hard everyday to deliver a load. The miles are hard when we are apart. For I never dreamed this driver would steal my heart. I've cooked for drivers many a meal. Met a lot of nice drivers, and talked a great deal. Many have come and gone away. I still wonder how they are today. A lot of them lonely, yearning for home. Tired of the road and being alone. Missing their children, and their wife. Being a driver isn't an easy life. I pray God watches over my driver while he's away. May he also watch over yours each, and every day!

Knight In Shining Armor

This poem is for my husband whom I've been married to for almost seven years, seven years of hardships. Started driving OTR in September and it's been hard on us. Here's to the love of my life...

Christmas Thanks

The big long road is silent,
big wheels no longer turning round.
The few out there still rollin’,
Are now headed homeward bound.

And in the local truck stop
amid the families so few,

The Rescue

In the middle of nowhere, with miles left to go
The car died right there in the heavy falling snow.

Just a single mother, with my daughter of just one
And her dearest older brother, my toddler of a son.

Me and Old 89

Here it is mid-moring climbing into old eighty-nine,

Just got my dispatch and its time to head on down the line.

I hate this truck more and more each mile,

The fun is fading now along with my smile.

The Life Of A Trucker's Life & Wife

THE WIFE OF A TRUCK DRIVER IS A HARD WAY.
YOU WATCH FOR HIM DAY AFTER DAY.

THE LOAD MUST ARRIVE ON TIME NO MATTER WHAT
NO EATING OR SLEEPING HE GIES IT ALL HE'S GOT.

THE "RIG" IS HIS WOMAN--SHE GETS HIM THERE.

Truckers

Truck drivers are a strange bunch
what most call adversity
we call lunch!!
You see
I'm truck driver man
I'm a star
everyone wants to be me
everyone want to be like me
You see
I'm truck driver man

Truckers' Bedtime Prayer

Now I lay me down to sleep,
my big rig parked in the street.

If it should start to roll before I wake
Please Dear Lord, step on the brake.

Amen

If I Had A Volvo VN

I would not want more pay,
But then again I’ve been driving another Sunday.
Driving along this open road,
Seeing lots but not a toad made from this load.
In my 40 tonner
I’ve drove all-day

Stars Aligned

A trucker pulled into a country truck stop,
And called a gal he knew as a teen many years ago.
“What a surprise,” she said, “Sure, you’re close,
Seattle’s only a 4 hour drive from Othello…”

Long Night In Illinois

Here I sit with my foot just itching;
trying to keep my brain from flipping.

Not a single piece of bear bait in sight;
and I wish i could find a convoy in flight.

Damn this double nickel speed limit;

I'll Be Waiting

Waiting for that next ring of the phone
Wishing You'd say you're coming home
All I can do is wait and be strong
and pray that you won't be gone for that long
the kids really miss you
so do i

The Wreck

A Texas bumper in the grass, a slowly spinning wheel

Once a drivers pride, now broken glass and twisted steel

Smoke is rising from the wreck, the stench of diesel is in the air

Despite the danger to ourselves we pull him out of there

Where Are You Going? Where Have You Been?

As I look into the rear view mirror of life,
I could see my past had being full of hatred and strife.

But now I look straight ahead,
because now I live, before I was dead.

When I accepted the Lord Jesus,

Big Rig Trucker & His Wife At Night

The life of a Big Rig trucker and his wife...she spends many lonely
nights. Through it all she has to sacrifice...for living the life of a
truckers wife. Many, many birthdays and holidays she spends alone,

Homeless Shelter

As I ride down the highway, everything seems fine.
I'm late for my appointment and my log book is way behind.
I think about my girlfriend so many miles away.
Well at least she was my girlfriend, she may be someone else's today.

A Truckers Prayer

Lord,
Help me carry this heavy load,
Keep my trailer straight on this road,
Lead, guide and direct,
and oh, what the heck,
Keep diesel in the tank, money in the bank,
and rubber side down. Amen!

A Woman's Prayer For "The Trucker"

Please oh "Lord" watch over these men while they are miles away from home,
Keep them safe in your eyes,
And guide them with your loving light,
Show them through the storms of your powers,

Monsoon Rain

Rolling north on I-35, Young Soldier meets the storm head-on: monsoon rain, and lightning bolts fill the pitch-black sky as drumbeats pound in his chest; his bulldog rides the waves, while two pups rock-n-roll to Kansas blaring from behind the woofers:

Life Of A Truck Driver

Rolling down that lonesome highway,
Staring sundown in the face.

Knowing not my destiny,
Or even my next place

I turn the radio up to muffle out the sound,
Of a giant diesel engine,

I Think Of Mama

I think of mama, every time I pass through here.

She used to love everyone she met,
it’s almost like she’s near.

I think of mama, every time I pass through here.

Mama’s gone to Heaven, To be with her Lord so dear.

Reality Of Trucking

The dispatcher tells you to take a load 700 miles.
He or she says, it should only take you a little while.

Your truck speed is 65 mph. You drive hard for 11 hours.

When you are not there yet,

Truck Drivers Of America

The truck driver is gone most of the time,
Driving down the highways between the two lines.

Lonely for his or her family,
He or she hardly gets to see.

While bringing food, merchandise, and clothing,

The Truck Driver's Prayer

Oh Lord give me strength to make this run.
For U.S. currency and not for fun.
Please help me not to have a flat.
No engine trouble or the likes of that.
Help me pass the scale and the I.C.C.

Trucker Joe

I met him at a truck stop, a giant of a man
He asked if he could sit down, then reached out his calloused hand
I was hauling a empty load, dead broke and out of luck
As if he knew what I'd been through, he offered me a cup

Love From Home

Thoughts of you on the road in my head.
Filled with heartache, I lay in my bed
Your driving hard all day and night
I wish you could rest your weary sight.
I miss you so much there is a void in my heart,

How Much Further To The State Line?

Driving this big Freightliner
Over the mountains and through the woods
Dispatchers got me on another all-nighter
And all I see is on coming hoods

DOT is doing their routine check

Days Gone

I sit in the seat watching the road.
Feeling the truck move beneath me.
Feeling for the little things.
U-joint getting ready to go.
Rear ends getting ready to go.
Listening to to the man on the radio.
